2026 TBL Draft Preview
The 4 Bears Roar, a professional basketball team in the TBL, is gearing up for the 2026 TBL Combine & Draft, which will be held January 29-February 1 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
"80 players get drafted," said TBL president David Magley.
Over 200 players will attend the TBL Combine & Draft with hopes of being selected on Sunday night, February 1st. The TBL Combine consists of scrimmages and workouts over two days, while many of the TBL team owners, general managers, and operations staff are attending workshops and break-out sessions.
"We're excited to go," said Ward Hilger, the Director of Operations for the Roar. "We finally get to talk with the other team managers and owners, share ideas and strategies that can help our young organization grow."
In attendance for the Roar will be the coaching staff including head coach Wayne Casey, assistant coach Will Collins, and newly hired Director of Scouting & Player Personnel Trey Stephens. The Roar will also have team CEO, president Patrick Packineau, general manager Derrick Hammonds, and Director of Operations Ward Hilger representing the team during the Annual Meetings.
The Roar will have one 1st and one 2nd round draft selection. On Sunday evening, the 1st round of the 2026 TBL Draft will be announced publicly at the league gala held in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 2nd round will follow the next day via Zoom meeting. Over 80% of all TBL players have come through combines, tryouts, and the draft. Many players have moved on to higher leagues overseas as well as the NBA G-League, and ultimately the NBA. Cherokee-Kiowa basketball player Lindy Waters III got his start in the TBL and went on to join an NBA G-league team. Since then, he has played in the NBA for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, and the San Antonio Spurs.
