Roar Dedicate Upcoming Series To MMIWR Movement

NEW TOWN, ND – The 4 Bears Roar have announced that upcoming home games on May 8th and 9th will honor the Missing And Murdered Indigenous Women And Relatives (MMIWR) movement.

The games will be an opportunity to raise awareness for the advocacy group dedicated to offering awareness, prevention-oriented resources, and legal support for relatives of missing or murdered indigenous people in Indian Country. The number of violent cases is disproportionately high among Indigenous people compared to other races. Homicides among Native American and Indigenous women are 10x the national average. Most of the women reported in these cases were under the age of 18. 56.1% of those experienced sexual violence.

The 4 Bears Roar, 4 Bears Casino & Lodge, and MHA Nation are asking you to take a stand to support the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women And Relatives movement. This is a great opportunity to show the world about the MMIWR movement and MHA Nation’s dedication to their message. The Roar have the #1 viewership on TBLTV averaging 253.1 viewers per game. During the games, the Roar players will be wearing special MMIWR jerseys displaying a red painted hand. This hand symbolizes the voices of Indigenous women and relatives being silenced by violence.

“May 5th is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women And Relatives,” said Roar general manager Derrick Hammonds. “So these games are a perfect opportunity to bring the TBL league, MHA community and the Roar together on this movement.”

Special Roar merchandise designed with the MMIWR movement will be sold in the Roar Store. Also, the Roar will have a 50/50 raffle, with 50% of the proceeds going to the MMIWR movement and 4 Bears Casino will match the 50%, to essentially give 100% back to the MMIWR. The winner would receive the other 50%.
