Roar Drop First Game Ever, 86-85 to Tri-Cities

The 4 Bears Roar dropped a close game 86-85 to the Tri-Cities SunDevils on Saturday night.

The Roar began the game without three key starters including point guard Rob Phinisee, guard Tavin Cummings, and guard Deshawn Munson. Point guard Marcus Friend, recently activated to the main roster again got the start.

The Roar had the lead after the first quarter by 3 and extended that to 14 at the half, leading 46-32. The Tri-Cities SunDevils got timely scoring across the board from three top players. The game came down to the wire with a controversial foul call on a three-pointer with 0.3 seconds left. The Roar were ahead 85-83 at the time. The SunDevils' guard Donovan Sanor hit all three free throws to give them the lead, and ultimately the victory.

SunDevils guard Ayoni Benavidez was their leading scorer with 23, with Donovan Sanor adding a close 22. The 6'9" center Kyson Rose also added 18 points. The Roar were led in scoring by their 7'0" center Kentrevious Jones with 29 points. Forward Jimario Rivers accounted for 15 points and the 6'10" forward Ken'Darrius Hamilton and 6'9" forward Tavares Sledge also had double figures.

The Roar now drop to 7-1 overall, while the SunDevils get their first win in franchise history improving to 1-3.

The Roar are back in action next Friday and Saturday, inside the 4 Bears Event Center against the Great Falls Electric. Doors are set for 6:00pm CT with tip-off nightly at 7:00pm CT.
