Roar Hires Director of Scouting

The 4 Bears Roar, member of the TBL, announced the hiring of Trey Stephens as the Director of Scouting and Player Personnel.

A native of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Stephens played collegiate basketball at Western Wyoming Community College for the Mustangs where he was a standout point guard. He then transferred to Presentation College in South Dakota where he completed his collegiate career as the Saints starting point guard. Stephens then embarked on a 12-year career in Miami working directly in the NBA with player personnel and player management.

"I'm excited to be a part of the Roar organization and help bring professional basketball back to North Dakota," said Stephens.

James Johnson, a 15-year veteran of the NBA was a player that Stephens managed, alongside working with many NBA players and those associated with the Miami Heat. Stephens will bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and connections to the Roar.

"Trey is a great guy," said Ward Hilger, Roar Director of Operations. "His in-depth connections to the players at the NBA G-League and FIBA levels helps bring not only great players to our doorstep, but proven winners and stars."

Stephens will officially join the rest of the Roar staff at the TBL Annual Meetings in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 29-30. Then the Roar coaching staff along with Stephens will evaluate all the players attending the 2026 TBL Combine. On the evening of February 1st, the Roar will make 3 draft selections over the two rounds. The Roar had acquired a 1st round draft pick from the Port City Power for cash considerations.
