Roar Sign League MVP, 3x Champ

The 4 Bears Roar, a professional basketball team in the TBL, has announced the official signing of former TBL MVP and 3-time champion guard DeShawn Munson for the 2026 season.

Munson, 30, joins the 4 Bears Roar for their inaugural season after winning three TBL championships courtesy of his time with the Potawatomi Fire (TBL). After graduating from Harris-Stowe State University, the 6’4” guard competed in Ballislife, a professional one-on-one competition. In 2022, Munson signed with the Potawatomi Fire where he would go on to be named the 2022 TBL Most Valuable Player (MVP) after nearly averaging a triple-double for the entire season. It would be the best season of his career averaging 25.8 points per game, 9.4 assists per game, and 10.6 rebounds per game.

In 2023, the Fire would win their first TBL championship with Munson receiving the honor of 2023 TBL Playoff MVP after average 23.8 points and 10.8 rebounds in the playoffs, including 41 points against the Shreveport Mavericks (TBL) in Round 2. The Fire would continue their winning ways adding championships in 2024 and 2025. Again Munson was named the 2024 TBL Playoffs MVP and scored 30 points against the St. Louis Griffins (TBL).

The signing of Munson brings a veteran presence to the Roar.

“I’m excited to have him,” said Roar head coach Wayne Casey. “We’re going to look to him to bring veteran leadership and really mold this team together.”

Munson was invited to the 2026 Roar Preseason Training Camp last week in Las Vegas and says he’s not taking anything for granted.

“Excited is an understatement,” said Munson. “This team. This staff. I got one job and that’s to bring a championship to North Dakota.”

Munson will join the Roar as they kick-off the 2026 TBL season in North Dakota. The Roar begin the season on the road taking on the defending Western Conference champion Great Falls Electric in Montana on March 1-2. The first home game for the Roar is on March 13th against the Nevada Silverbacks at the 4 Bears Events Center in New Town. Tickets go on-sale soon at 4BearsRoar.com.
