Roar Sign North Dakota College Player

The 4 Bears Roar have announced the signing of guard-forward Jerome Washington to a contract.

The 6’6” shooter from Andover, Kansas is a product of Valley City State University of North Dakota. Washington was recruited to VCSU as a shooter from Itasca Community College of Minnesota. At VCSU, Washington shot 32% and 39% from the 3-point line in 49 games for the Vikings. He spent the 2025-2026 season as an assistant coach for Valley City State.

In November 2025, Washington attended the TBL Kansas City Combine where he showcased for two days. He originally caught the attention of Roar general manager Derrick Hammonds.

“He can shoot,” said Hammonds. “There was a lot of talent there, but he shot well.”

In early March, Washington received a conditional offer to join the Mesquite Desert Dogs, the TBL’s travel team as they took on the 4 Bears Roar in New Town, ND. Over those two games, Washington would see limited time scoring a total of 11 points. Washington received another opportunity to play for the Mesquite Desert Dogs when they traveled to Montana for a TBL game. Washington would go off scoring 27 points, shooting 9 of 17 from the 3-point line. A few days after that, Washington was contacted by the 4 Bears Roar and offered a contract to join the team for a 4-game road trip to the Pacific Northwest.

The team, along with Washington, will arrive in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, April 18th. The Roar (13-1) take on the Tri-Cities SunDevils (2-10) on Monday, April 20 and Tuesday, April 21. Then the Roar will head to Oregon to take on the Willamette Valley Jaguars on Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 before returning home to North Dakota.
