Roar Sweep The Electric, 117-92

The 4 Bears Roar (2-0) completed the series sweep of the Great Falls Electric (0-2) on Monday night in Great Falls, Montana winning 117-92. The Electric played their home games in the beautiful Pacific Steel & Recycling Arena, formerly the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls in front of a good crowd.

The game was the first professional start for rookie point guard Alejandro Rama (Oglala Lakota) of Pine Ridge, SD in place of the injured point guard Rob Phinisee. The Roar struggled out of the gate to gain momentum but battled to keep it tied 26-26 after the first quarter after a one second-left inbounds alley-oop dunk from Jimario Rivers. At halftime, the Roar would get a lead 56-48 going into the locker room.

“This team is learning,” said Roar head coach Wayne Casey. “We spread everything out with the team and the offense.”

The Roar came out after halftime and went up by 12 after the third quarter. Timely shots, solid defense, and utilizing the bench took the Roar all the way to a 117-92 victory over the defending Western Conference champions.

The Roar were led by former 3x TBL champion Deshawn Munson with a triple-double scoring 14 points, 16 assists, and 13 rebounds. Forward Jimario Rivers and guard Tavin Cummings both had 16 points with center Kendarrius Hamilton adding 14. Scoring was spread out with six different Roar players having double digits and 60 points coming off the bench. Rama had 11 points, 4 steals, and 5 rebounds in his first professional start.

“Alejandro (Rama) was huge for us tonight,” said Casey. “To ask a rookie like him to step in like that makes us dangerous.”

The Roar (2-0) are headed back to North Dakota for three days before flying to Arizona to take on the Mesa Monsoons over the weekend. On Saturday, game time is set for 7:00pm MT-8:00pm CT from Salt River High School. The Monsoons are hosting Native Heritage Night as they bring back their original uniforms that honored the team’s Native community. All tribal members get special ticket pricing at $5 with proof of tribal ID. Any groups of 10 or more are encouraged to email lady@mesamonsoons.com for discount tickets and more game day experiences. Youth 12 and under are free.

The Roar would like to thank the Great Falls Electric staff, trainer, and community for their hospitality. Thank you to the Sleep Inn & Suites in Great Falls for their wonderful accommodations and hospitality.
