Roar Win 148-98, Raise Funds For MMIWR

NEWTOWN, ND – The Roar continued their dominance in the TBL with a 50 point win over the Willamette Valley Jaguars, with a score of 148-98 on Saturday night at home.

After a big 142-91 victory on Friday night, the Roar (18-1) returned to the 4 Bears Event Center inside 4 Bears Casino & Lodge for the final game of the series against the Jaguars (2-12). A great crowd was in attendance for the final night of the Missing And Murdered Indigenous Women And Relatives weekend, raising awareness and support for the movement.

The Roar got off to a good lead to start the game, but the Jags were able to go on a nice run in the 1st quarter to keep it close. The Roar however would go on a late run and take a 28-17 after the first quarter. The Roar would continue dominating the floor with solid shooting, transition scoring, and post play. The Roar were led in scoring by guard Rob Phinisee with 23 points (also 11 rebounds) and Jimario Rivers added 21. Nine different players were in double digit scoring including another double-double from TBL MVP candidate Deshawn Munson with 15 points and 10 assists. Other scorers for the Roar included Rasheed Brooks (19), Tavares Sledge (17), Alejandro Rama (11), Taevon Horton (10), Cortez Mosley (10), and Ken’Darrius Hamilton (10). The Jags were led in scoring by guard Preston Whitfield with 32 points and guard Lybrant Robinson with 20 points.

The Roar are back at home next weekend against the Mesa Monsoons. Friday, May 15th the Roar will be honoring all active service members and veterans of the United States Armed Forces, along with first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, and emergency healthcare professionals. The Roar will wear special camouflage jerseys for the night. On Saturday, May 16th, the Roar will dedicate the night to cancer awareness and those currently battling and lost. The Roar players will be wearing special purple jerseys to honor Cancer Awareness. Each home game will have ways to donate to special causes.
